SL Home LifeStyle is a new blog with a very personal touch.

Home Of The Week - Alexandra Messinez Shares Her Home.

I am thrilled to present the first home on SL Home LifeStyle. Alexandra Messinez kindly opened up her home for us all to have a look through. She has an amazing home and I am truly excited to share it all with you.

When I first arrived at Alexandra's home, I was blown away by how extraordinary her home was and how beautiful Alexandra was herself. Alexandra lives in an remarkable Steampunk themed home, and lives on a shared land parcel. I asked Alexandra what the best thing about her location was. "Ok, one of the best things about this place is, I know my neighbors....a few since my rezzday in SL" Even though Alexandra was one of the last ones to move onto the parcel you will see from the photos below she was lucky enough to get the best view.

I personally fell in love with her land. It was so green and beautiful but I decided to ask Alexandra why she loved living where she did. "The community feeling of this place and its green look. Its the opposite of the Mainland where you have to live between a mass of different schemes and prim trash."

Her actual home is only 50 prims, which was incredibly surprising to me. All up she uses 248 prims for her home and decorating. "I chose this house because it is small. The usual SL Hangar sized buildings are so cold and empty."

I would personally like to thank Alexandra for her patience with me and my forever crashing in on her personal space. Alexandra is an incredible person and I think her home reflects her perfectly.

Can you please tell us a little bit about yourself?

I came to SL because I was bored playing MMORPGS which did not have much roleplay left. The slogan "Your World - Your Imagination" catched my attention.
Another point was, since I usually speak german, SL became a good English trainer.
Talking with people from all over the world in a world shaped by imagination made me stay.

In your own words describe what your home means to you.

It is an expression of virtual safehouse. A place where you sit down, rest your feet on your table and watch a movie with friends, while you rest your feet on your desk in RL and watch a movie with some online friends.

How long have you lived at your home?

Just a few weeks at this one.

How long did it take you to achieve and be happy with the look of your home?

This is a process which never ends. Its part of the fun in SL.

What did you use as influences when you were creating your home?

Music from Abney Park and some Jules Vernes Novels

I have to add here that Alexandra had a black and white photograph of Karl Ranseier in a lovely frame in her bedroom, she proceeded to tell me about it. "It's a repeated joke from an old comedy show on german TV. Everytime they took this photo and said "Karl Ranseier is dead.... The worlds most unimportant [Showmaster, cook, what ever] has died today".

Karl Ranseier was a recurring character featured in a fake in a fake news report telling about his death at the end of each episode. The show was named RTL Samstag Nacht and it ran from 1993 to 1998. It really helped comedy in German television to a beaththrough and was a model for several comedy television shows to come.

What would you love to add to your home if you had the prim allowance?

More small details like books scattered around.

What is your favorite piece of decor in your home and why?

My movie projector. A great way to include a media player into a steampunk style.
And my fireplace from Nautilina. Its just the most cozy fire I have seen yet in SL.

Where do you love to shop for your home?

Julia Collection had great furniture, Golden Oriole great decoration, as well as JDs Toy Factory.

A little about Alexandra's home.

Alexandra's home is from ~JD~ and is named Copperium. Pure Steampunk building with metal textures, copper color and material harmonies with mistycal, interesting senses. High quality sculpt parts makes the house so real, still keep the prim cound low! Special sculpt parts let the fences, stairs and doors be in 3D. Really nice glowing effects on the roof lights and lighting edges. The pictures made in SL, without shadow, Global Illumination, and any additional effect or "retouch" to hide something.
Features:

-30 x 23m footprint, 20x20m the round area (ca. 30m high)

-50 prim-5objects
-unique sculpts, highly detailed and LOD safe
-lockable door with configurable access list and sound effects
-scripted windows (owner only) with open and close states
-scripted and animated ladder (up/down states) leading to the roof-viewpoint area.

Great photos. It is always a pleasure having guests (unless they are griefers ;-)
I do not have much to add, only one thing.

Thank you for mentioning Karl Ranseier. The worlds most unimportant blog commenter has died today. He was overrun by a steam roller while he was ROFLing at 21 Fakestreet.
